We connect people with causes who need help, catalyzing change between every day people who want to help to those who need it the most, the ones who get forgotten, the most vulnerable.

NPC number: 2013/030242/08

WHO

This Page is dedicated to the ChangemakersHub network who have joined forces to help those most vulnerable as a result of Covid 19 Pandemic

There is nothing more powerful than a small group of passionate people coming together to make a difference.

Our Founder Michelle Korevaar has reached out to family, friends, neighbours and the greater ChangemakersHub community and network.

WHAT

Real impact needs collaboration. Real impact needs to ensure co-ordinated and well organised activity fulfils real need that makes impact. So a small group of passionate volunteers have come together to identify and assist local ward councillors, local charities and movements doing great work and anyone that qualifies for needing assistance.

The situation we all find ourselves in, across the world, will never be solved by waiting for the powers that be to pick up the mantle. They just don’t have the capacity. So we could get caught up in the fear and despair, or we can be part of the solution.

This page is dedicated to our efforts to walk our talk and actively be involved in rallying for support and help for Social Entrepreneurs already active in their communities and have first-hand knowledge and access to those left most vulnerable by Covid19. Alone we are one drop, together we are an ocean. The wave, is what is needed to bring the real impact.

WHY

Covid19 lockdown has taken away income from 100’s of thousands of people who live from hand to mouth, never mind the devastation it will have on the economy going forward. We had a hunger issue in South Africa before. Children were serviced at their schools with meals to help with this issue. Now with schools closed and people not having any income, the situation is turning into a dire crisis. Things like clothes and warm bedding and the like of are needed as winter comes along. Many of the societal ills that were there before, have not gone away, they still prevail and this is going to be a long 6 months ahead as South Africa enters its peak of the disease effects

It is essential that all resources, no matter how small or large, get strategically mobilized within vulnerable communities

With the restrictions of the National Lockdown and the very real threat of infection it was decided on the following:

  1. The most vulnerable areas in a surrounding circumference of Cape Town be identified.
  2. Identify the Charitable initiatives that are doing valuable work and need help.
  3. Make contact, discuss immediate needs and issues they are facing, compile wish lists and create calls to action for help.
  4. Work through the local Ward Councillors, SAPS and city officials to ensure all safety and regulated precautions are taken.
  5. An essential service permit has been obtained by Michelle and one or two other key supporters to distribute goods.
  6. Weekly we rally for the wish lists highlighted below, collect, organise and distribute to the organisations in need as and when we have enough to get to the communities.

Below we have compiled a Wishlist of needs; please keep your eye on the up and coming crowdfunding campaigns for specific needs that will go live in the coming weeks
