WHAT

StreetSmart gives diners and patrons the opportunity to give responsibly. The beauty of StreetSmart is its simplicity. In a StreetSmart establishment a small, elegant card informs patrons that a voluntary R5 will be automatically added to the donor’s bill. We promote Responsible Giving because giving directly to a street child only keeps them there. It is important to greet them in a friendly manner and rather give money to initiatives that deal with the problem i.e StreetSmart SA.

WHY
StreetSmart SA raises funds for street children’s education, skills training, and family reunification programmes for vulnerable and street children through fundraising partners. With StreetSmart funded interventions in vulnerable children’s lives, we support programmes which bring real, long-term societal benefits and education to children and youth.

In 2020 we assisted in
• Reunifying 28 youth with families.
• Supported 12 employment of social & auxiliary social workers.
• Continued to support employment of 14 skills trainers, youth care workers and special care teachers.
• Strengthened 147 families for childcare.
• Provided 1720 children with services in StreetSmart’s ambit.

WISHLIST

People can volunteer their time by getting their local restaurant, accommodation establishment or businesses to become StreetSmart, as well as support the organisation by visiting and donating to StreetSmart at these fundraising partner establishments. The public could also participate in a sports event and do fundraising on StreetSmart’s behalf. Administrative and marketing volunteers are always welcome to help out.

The concept is so easy and simple and unobtrusive. A simple donation at the end of a meal, coupled with the assurance that this donation will find its way fully into the funding of the many worthy organisations we support. StreetSmart makes an invaluable contribution to organisations that care for vulnerable children.
StreeSmart runs a lean organisation with every cent raised through its hospitality partners going to the beneficiaries. All beneficiaries are visited by the StreetSmart manager and the board members to make sure that every cent raised is being well spent. And is there a more important cause than the well being of our children?

A wonderful organization doing great work in the community and the area of childcare for the vulnerable and at risk.
Donations are collected from restaurant patrons and distributed to the beneficiaries.
Its great that 100% of the donations reach the beneficiaries…all the operating costs are sponsored by corporate sponsors.
