WHAT

The Johannesburg Branch delivers nutritious meals to elderly and frail members of the Jewish community through its flagship project, Kosher Mobile Meals. In addition, it offers support to underprivileged children and their schools; provides for newborn babies and their mothers in government hospitals and clinics; operates a feeding scheme in Alexandra and a soup kitchen for patients at the Hillbrow Community Health Centre; responds to crisis situations; provides skills training for the unemployed; arranges aftercare in Alexandra for the children of working parents and embarks on many more ad hoc projects.

 

WHY

The Union of Jewish Women (UJW) was established in 1931 as a Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) to assist South African communities regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or gender.

 

WISHLIST

We require Tutors at the Alexandra Aftercare from grade 7 to grade 10 to assist with English, Maths, Afrikaans and Life Sciences.

Create activity packs for the children who wait long hours at the Hillbrow Community Health Centre

Sponsor apples for the day patients at the Hillbrow Community Health Care Centre

Pack bags for the Bags for New Beginnings project

Sponsor food or gifts for the Alexandra Aftercare Christmas Party
